Muncie Public Library is now offering this search service to support the Muncie-area nonprofit community. Please complete this form to request grant search assistance, and a librarian will contact you with any questions and/or your search results.
The grantmakers in Foundation Directory typically fund only nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status as defined by the Internal Revenue Code. These are organizations whose purposes are charitable, educational, scientific, religious, literary, or cultural.
A small number of foundations will make grants to individuals, usually to help pay for educational expenses, or support artistic or research projects. These grantmakers generally do not fund individuals for personal needs such as food, medical bills, housing, or debt relief. Contact your elected officials such as your township trustee or call 211 to find government agencies and human/social service organizations near you, some of which may be able to provide temporary financial and other forms of assistance.
Likewise, grantmakers in this database generally do not provide funding to for-profit businesses. Refer to your Small Business Development Center and this Grantspace article for information about funds to start a for-profit business.
